Aim:To study the efficacy of Rebamipide 2% eye drops in treatment of signs and symptoms of KCS in patients of SS
Material and Methods :The study included 13 cases of SS diagnosed by Rheumatologist and referred for the signs and symptoms of dry eye. Tear film BUT, Fluorescein ,Rose Bengal and Lissamine staining score was estimated. Severity of dry eye was graded as per Khurana’s scoring system. Rebamipide eye drops were started 4 times daily. Follow up was done every 2 weeks for a month, then 4 weekly for next 8 weeks. Results: Improvement in signs and symptoms was noticed at the end of 4 weeks as indicated by change in total score. At the end of study period significant improvement was observed in signs and symptoms in 10 out of the 13 patients while 3 patients had no significant improvement.Conclusion : Rebamipide eye drops is effective in the management of KCS in patients of SS as it increases both secreted and membrane associated mucin secretion It also decreases inflammation.
