A Prospective Randomized Trial to compare the incidence of withdrawal Rebound inflammation after Phacoemulsification with different anti-inflammatory drops: Prednisolone , Difluprednate and Ketorolac
390 was Sample size. 390 eyes were divided equally into three groups. On occurrence of rebound inflammation, day of incidence, visual acuity and severity were noted accordingly SUN Classification. Switch over was done. Response noted.
Rebound inflammations were nil in Ketorolac group where in Pred group (4.7%) and Diflu (3.94%) group. Median day of occurrence was 8 weeks, severity moderate 93% severe 7% in both groups.
Rebound Inflammation caused worry to both patients and the surgeon. Fear of late endophthalmitis was of most concern. When used post-operatively after phaco-emulsification, ketorolac (0.45%) was found to be most efficacious among three drops in preventing rebound. This increased post-surgical patient satisfaction and confidence to the surgeon.
