Aim: A randomised trial of single snip conjunctival incision with standard paralimbal incision in patients qualifying for uniocular recession resection surgery for horizontal strabismus. Materials: Wiscott scissors, 8-0 vicryl spatulated. Method: We intend to recruit 44 patients randomised by block randomisation into two groups. Group A- operated through single snip paralimbal conjunctival incision approach where a single snip V shaped incision is given with apex facing the limbus , by lifting up the conjunctiva, and is closed by a single suture at apex after surgery . Group B- operated through standard paralimbal conjunctival incision approach. Results are compared in terms of redness, congestion, chemosis, foreign body sensation and drop intolerance at postop day 1, 2 wks and 6 weeks. Statistical analysis: Inflammatory scores will be compared using Mann-Whitney U test, success rate using Chi-square test. Duration of surgery using student’s t-test , with significance set at p<0.5.
