Aim- To find impact of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) status of pituitary adenomas on ophthalmic presentation

Methods- The MRI size was found in fifty patients (18 to 67 years) including 31 (62%) males and 19 (38%) females having pituitary adenomas.

Results- The MRI size varied from 2.0 mm3 to 73.66 mm.3 There was no statistically significant (SS) association between age range (p-0.33), gender distribution (p=0.38), symptoms including diminution of vision (p=0.83), headache (p=0.91), squint (p=0.34), field defects (p=0.53), vomiting (p=0.98) amenorrhea (p-0.18), acromegaly (p=0.49) and tumor size. The MRI size did not have SS correlation with secretory or non-secretory nature of tumors; or visual acuity (p=0.54), cup dimensions (p=0.17) and optic disc pallor (p=0.77).

Conclusion- The MRI size does not predict secretary or non-secretory nature of pituitary adenomas. Moreover the demographic, ophthalmic, systemic and hormonal features do not depend on MRI size of adenoma.
