Aim- To study the effectiveness of freshly prepared topical amphotericin B in cases fungal corneal ulcers nonresponding to standard anti-fungal therapy. Methods- Place: tertiary care hospital in Jharkhand.Parameters for Response : symptomatic improvement, size of ulcer ,infiltration and pupillary dilatation after 1 week.cohort : nonresponding cases after standard therapy. Drop is prepared by mixing 3ml of solution, made by 50mg parenteral amphotericin B diluted with 10 ml distilled water, in 7ml artificial tear. Results- 10 out of 14 (71%)nonresponding cohorts showed improvement in all parameters, , whereas 2 (14%) showed symptomatic improvement and 2 cases didn’t show any response to topical amphotericin B during the follow up over 4 weeks period.Conclusion- freshly prepared amphotericin B(1 wk shelflife) has shown better response (than over the counter available standard therapy contributed to less chances of resistance.
