PURPOSE:Case series analysis of twelve patients with ocular manifestation of Wegener’s granulomatosis.
METHOD:Retrospective analysis of twelve patients seen between 1987 and 2017.
RESULT:The mean age of presentation was 45.55 years(range 32-55 years; M:F ratio-7:5).Redness and pain(12 patients) was the most common presenting symptoms.Sinusitis(4 patients) and arthralgia(12 patients) were the most common systemic association.Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody(ANCA) was postive in 7 patients and not done in 4 patients.Cyclophosphamide and steroids given in 10 patients and 2 patients underwent scleral patch graft.
CONCLUSION:Treatment with cyclophosphamide and steroids reduces the ocular morbidity due to Wegener’s granulomatosis .In severe cases with scleral perforation,patch graft may be needed.
