PURPOSE:-To evaluate the functional results of Weis Procedure for involutional entropion of the lower eyelid.
PATIENTS AND METHODS:-A retrospective study of 26 eyelids of 25 patients who underwent reconstructive surgery by Weis procedure for lower lid involutional entropion. Outcome measures were complication,cosmesis,punctual position,pfh,suture adjustment & recurrence rates.
RESULTS:-The mean age was 75±7 years. The sex ratio of 3:1 with male predominance. Patients who had significant over riding of pre tarsal and pre-septal plate were included, those with horizontal lid laxity were excluded. 1 patient had previous surgery for the same. After a mean followup of 14months, the functional results were satisfactory in 100% of cases in terms of ,cosmesis,punctual position, recurrence rates.
CONCLUSION
Weis procedure is a easy,effective and a fast method for patients with involutional entropion presenting with over-riding of pre-septal over pre-tarsal plate without horizontal lid laxity.
