LASIK eliminates the magnification or miniaturisation of image caused by glasses since it changes the optics of an eye. Thus theoretically, it might change the binocularity in Isoametropic as well as in Anisometropic patients. Various studies have evaluated the effect of LASIK on binocularity; but, the results are inconsistent. Therefore, further study was required to ascertain conclusive facts.
Objectives – 1. To assess binocular visual functions in Isoametropic and Anisometropic patients pre-operatively and post-operatively. 2. To compare binocular visual function before and after in these patients.
Study period: 24 months.Sample size: 145 patients. Binocular visual function assessment was done on basis of
Binocular visual acuity, Synoptophore test, Worth 4 dot and FRIEND test. Both the groups showed improvement after LASIK in terms of range of convergence. Anisometropic patients were more benefited than Isoametropic patients in terms of Grades of binocular single vision (BSV).
