AIM:To evaluate outcomes of combined pars plana vitrectomy(PPV)&Aurolab aqueous drainage implant (AADI) placement for refractory glaucoma.Method:Medical records of 35 eyes that underwent PPV–AADI were retrospectively reviewed.Primary outcome was failure based on preset criteria.Secondary outcome-compare postoperative mean IOP,mean AGM & BCVA with pre operative values. Results:At 12 month follow up,failure occurred in 9(28%) cases & most common reason was high IOP.Mean IOP decreased from 43.38±10.3 to 15.21±8.1 mm Hg(P< .001).Mean AGM required decreased from 3.44±0.5 to 1.67±0.5(P<.001).Improvement in BCVA was noted which was not statistically significant.Choroidal detachment was the most common complication. Conclusion:Combined PPV & AADI resulted in significantly reduced in IOP & glaucoma medications at 1 follow up. AADI in comparison with other commercially available glaucoma drainage implant is relatively less expensive which is a matter of significance in developing countries.
