We report a case of 3 year old male presented with corneal opacity since age of 1 ½ months.
He has past history of cleft lip and cleft palate surgery at age of 1 year. Since then after surgery patient is on and off treatment.
On systemic examinations, patient was having multiple scars on forearms and rest examination was unremarkable.
After reviewing literature final diagnosis was Congenital corneal anesthesia.
Difficulties in diagnosis encountered were, sensations could not be checked and history of recurrences could not be elicited to rule out recurrent HSV keratitis.
Congenital corneal anesthesia is group of complex neurological conditions characterized by neurosensory deficits involving ocular surface.
Congenital corneal anesthesia is important differential diagnosis to consider in children with dry eye and non healing epithelial defects.
