AIM – To determine changes in the CCT following manual uneventful SICS with PCIOL implantation in senile cataract pts.
Methods- A hospital based prospective study of 260 eyes(146 male,114 female) undergoing uneventful manual SICS with PCIOL implantation for senile cataract done from Sep 2017 to May 2018 in a tertiary care eye hospital. Pre-operative CCT was recorded. Then post operative CCT at 24hrs,1st,4th,8th wk were recorded using Topcon CT-1P (SN-2631583).
Results- There is a significant increase in mean baseline CCT (P value < 0.05) by 24 hours. There is continuous reduction of CCT on 1st, 4th, 8th week of post op day. Most of the subjects reach their baseline CCT by 8th week (P value <0.05). Conclusion – There is a sudden but transient increase in mean CCT following SICS with PCIOL. The CCT reaches the preoperative value around 8th week post op. So spectacle correction better postponed beyond 8th week following SICS with PCIOL in patients having senile cataract.
