Aim:To analyse current usage & complications of LA techniques for cataract surgery & compare with previous year data. Methods:Retrospective study.LA techniques used for cataract MSICS & PHACO during April 2014 – March 2016 were compared with April 2016- March 2018.Results: April 2014 – March 2016, LA techniques for cataracts were: 0.14% general; 82.59% peri/retrobulbar; 0.25 % sub-Tenon’s &17.02% topical. During (April 2016- March 2018),LA technique were: 0.08% general; 8.68% peri/retrobulbar; 73.25% sub-Tenon’s &18.00 % topical. Major complications April 2014 – March 2016 included 7 retrobulbar haemorrhage, 5 globe perforations, 1 CRAO. April 2016- March 2018 had 3 retrobulbar haemorrhage, 1 globe perforation 3 orbital cellulitis.Globe perforations occurred in retro/peribulbar blocks whereas orbital cellulitis was observed in the subtenons block, RBH was seen in both techniques.Conclusion:Sub-Tenon’s block appears to be relatively safer than needle-based blocks with lower complications
