Introduction: Yoga is becoming a lifestyle choice in all age.Yoga Posture may impact IOP, major risk factor for Glaucoma.
Method: IOP was recorded in 100 eyes of 50 subjects. All subjects maintained supine, right lateral, left lateral and head low posture (Shirshasana) for 5 minutes each. IOP recorded in sitting posture within 2 minutes after each posture using GAT.
Result: The OU mean IOP was 16.58, 17.61, 17.79 and 20.56 mmHg respectively. Mean IOP was 16.70, 17.74, 17.88, 20.88 mmHg OD and 16.46, 17.48, 17.70, 20.24 mmHg OS. Bonferroni and Dunnett t test were applied.
Conclusion: IOP after Head low posture was significantly higher than all postures. IOP in left lateral was more than right lateral in both eyes. The dependent eye did not show significant increase.
