Purpose: To Compare short term IOP fluctuation with Loteprednol Etabonate and Fluorometholone eye drops.
Method: Retrospective review of 180 eyes, treated with topical Loteprednol etabonate 0.5% and Fluorometholone 0.1% was done. IOP was measured on the day 1 and day 7 of the treatment.
Results: In Loteprednol etabonate group, the baseline IOP range was 10.3mmHg and 21.1mmHg (mean 15.11 ± 2.60mmHg). Day 7 IOP range was 10.6mmHg and 23.8mmHg (mean 16.22 ± 3.13mmHg). Mean difference of IOP between the baseline and 1 week follow up was 1.11 ± 1.79mmHg with a P – value of 3.72E-23
In Fluorometholone group, the baseline IOP range was 10.5mmHg and 21.4mmHg (mean 14.90 ± 2.76mmHg). Day 7 IOP range was 11mmHg and 23.5mmHg (mean 15.80 ± 2.97mmHg). The mean difference of IOP between Day 1 and Day 7 was 0.92 ± 1.57mmHg with a P – value of 1.44E-26
Conclusion: IOP fluctuations after short term use of topical Loteprednol etabonate and Fluorometholone are equivalent and not significant clinically.
