A 8 year old boy presented with redness, watering of both eyes and inability to open eyes in bright light since 15 days.History of fever present 3 weeks back for which 1 injection was given at a local hospital following which the child developed haemorrhagic crusts over the lips,oral cavity,nostrils and itchy lesions all over the body.Ocular examination(BE) showed cutaneous erosions over the eyelids,conjunctival and circumcorneal congestion.Total epithelial defect present over the cornea with stromal edema and mucin plug. No signs of symblepharon was present.With the above,clinical diagnosis of SJS was made
Investigations showed normal haemoglobin with raised neutrophils and thrombocytosis. ESR was elevated.Rest of the investigation was normal.The child was managed conservatively with antibiotic eye drops, steroid eye drops, lubricating eye drops and gel with glass rod application, cyclosporin eye drop. Dry amniotic membrane transplantation was done.The child improved symptomatically
