The Silent Sinus Syndrome is a rare clinical condition.
Silent Sinus Syndrome was first described by Montgomery in 1964.
Patient presents with ophthalmological complaints without any nasal sinus symptoms and has typical painless course so called “Silent”.It is recognized by spontaneous and progressive painless enophthalmos an maxillary hypoplasia, painless facial asymmetry ,enophthalmos,hypoglobus and maxillary atelectasia and alteration of orbital floor.Here we present a case of 9 days old female baby brought by parents to ophthalmology OPD with complaints of inability to open (RE) and facial asymmetry and cough.
Patient had (RE) anophthalmos. Patient was advised CT Nose and PNS with Orbits,which showed right sided maxillary sinus opacification and depressed orbital floor.
Ophthalmic management for this is for cosmetic purpose.
Surgical endoscopical treatment of Para Nasal Sinus is the treatment of choice.
Study aims to create awareness of this rare disease.
