AIM
study on etiology of dry eye disease in children (5 to 15 years).
METHODS
Target sample size of 130 children with symptoms of dry eye were taken from OPD from sep17 to may 18 and were assesed with functional visual acuity, blink rate assesment, tear film break up time (4.3+/-1.8), schirmer’s test (11.9+/-9.0) & fluroscein staining score (1.43+/-1.90) & ocular protection index (0.8+/-0.3) (dividing tear film break up time /blink rate). OSDI(Ocular surface disease index) value found to be(30+/- 14).
RESULTS
Dry eye was found with various congenital(7%), autoimmune & endocrine(23%), inflammatory(41%) and environmental disorders(29%).
CONCLUSION
This study provides data on etiology of DED in pediatric age group. This study allow further understanding of prevalence and risk factors in this ethnic group.
