Purpose:To describe the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of pediatric patients(<18 years)with VKH disease. Methods:Retrospective review of 28 children with VKH in 2 tertiary care centres in India and Egypt between 2007 and 2017. 21 children were from India(group A) and 7 from Egypt(group B). Results:Mean age was 14.4± 3.1 years and mean follow-up period was 34.4 months.Ocular and extraocular manifestations were comparatively severe in group A.Cataract(38.09%vs.28.5%) followed by glaucoma(28.5%) were the most common complications in both groups.Azathioprine followed by methotrexate were the most commonly used immunosuppressives and all except 1 were treated with oral steroid. Recurrence was higher in group B(100%) as compared to group A (14.28%).Mean VA improved from 0.86±1.14LogMAR to 0.61±1.18LogMAR (p value=0.001). Conclusion:Although frequently unrecognized,VKH may affect children but visual prognosis in them is generally favourable if treated with aggressive therapy.
