AIM: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of Ahmed glaucoma tube in sulcus in secondary glaucoma.METHODS: Retrospectively 50 patients with secondary glaucoma who underwent Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation from January 2010 till December 2016 were reviewed. Preoperative corneal graft clarity, visual acuity, number of anti-glaucoma medications, and IOP were compared with postoperative data on day 1, 1 week, 4 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 1year.RESULTS: All patients were pseudophakic. The graft clarity remained same in 23 (79.21%) of 29 patients, and visual acuity remained same in 22 patients (44%) at 1 year. Mean IOP decreased from 36.43+_9.41 mmHg preoperatively to 22.05 +_11.52mmHg at 1 year(p<0.001). Anti-glaucoma medications reduced from 3.22+_ 0.65 to 0.80+_0.9.The incidence of postoperative complications was 44%. The cumulative probability of success was 94% at 1 year.CONCLUSION: Sulcus placement of tube is safe and effective in the management of secondary glaucoma.
