Purpose-To study the mechanism, types of ocular injury and its outcome in bungee cord related ocular trauma, to formulate appropriate strategy to reduce such injury

Methods-Retrospective review of medical records of patients presenting with bungee cord related eye trauma between March 2016 to February 2017

Result-Total of 13 patients were identified.10(77%) patient presented with closed globe injury and 3(23%) presented with open globe injury. All are men with mean age group of 30.15±7.38 years.Presenting VA ranges from 6/12 to NPL. 7(54%) patients were having final VA≥6/18. 6(46%) patients had final VA worse than 6/18. Mechanism of injury was slippage of hook while cord is stretched

Conclusion- Bungee cord injury is affecting working age group male resulting in significant loss of vision to loss of eye hence there is need of appropriate intervention like use of printed warning on package, use of safety eye glasses and modification of hook design to prevent such injury.
