Aim To present a rare case of buphthalmos associated with congenital cataract (bilateral)with global developmental delay
Materials and methods
A one and half years old female child was brought by her mother to tertiary eye care center for complaints of absence of vision and watering .Child was diagnosed case of developmental delay and seizures.On examination ,child had bilateral megalocornea ,with haab s striae , congenital cataracts
Child underwent cataract extraction with PCIOL implantation with primary posterior capsulotomy with anterior vitrectomy with trabeculectomy in both eyes Post op ,there was gradual decrease in corneal oedema and the patient s vision improved .
Conclusion This is a rare association of ocular and systemic manifestation in a child of developmental delay.Post operatively child s general condition improved after she had vision .
Early diagnosis and management is the key to good ocular and systemic health of the child .
