The standard treatment for Epiretinal membrane (ERM) is Vitrectomy surgery. In some patients surgical treatment is not feasible or has to wait. So altenative treatment needs to be studied. Here we have evaluated the safety and efficacy of Intravitreal Dexamethasone implant to treat the CME associated with idiopathic ERM, atleast till time surgery can be planned.
Single Dexamethasone implant produced clinically meaningful improvements in vision in CME with idiopathic ERM. Improvement in vision were accompanied by reductions in central retinal thickness and volume and all benefits were sustained for 3 to 6 months post treatment. The IOP was controllable with topical medicines and there were no other systemic or local adverse events
