Intraocular foreign body (IOFB) injuries vary in presentation, outcome, and prognosis depending upon various factors. Increased awareness about eye protection, improved surgical techniques, and advancements in imaging modalities are responsible for an improved outcome in injuries with IOFB. More than 90 % of patients of IOFB are young males with average age between 25 and 39 years. The general guideline for management of IOFB would be helpful considering the important first few hours after such a patient presents to the emergency and improving chances of morbidity of eye. also The IOFBs should alert the ophthalmologist to their medico-legal significance and all efforts must be made to ensure full and detailed documentation of the diagnosis and management.
