Dental procedures can rarely induce ophthalmic complications like diplopia, strabismus, ptosis and amaurosis fugax. Injection of anaesthetic solution into the oral cavity is the leading factor in the development of these complications. Retinal artery occlusion is a rare but serious cause of permanent vision loss. The exact pathological mechanism is still obscure. Here we present an extremely rare case of 60 year old male patient who presented with sudden loss of vision (perception of light negative) left eye 1day after left upper molar tooth extraction. Patient was a non smoker without any comorbid conditions. Fundus examination of left eye showed central retinal artery occlusion. His blood investigations were within normal limits. CT and MRI orbits were obtained to rule out orbital pathologies. This case report intents to throw light on the serious sight threatening complication of dental procedures.
