OBJECTIVE: To evaluate central corneal thickness in diabetics and non diabetics measured by ultrasound pachymetry.
METHOD: A cross sectional study of 200 patients were undertaken .All patients were examine as per predesigned proforma .BCVA,CCT measurement done by ultrasound pachymetry,FBS,PPBS,HBA1C were taken, severity of DR as per ETDRS classification.
RESULT: Mean CCT were increased in diabetics as compared to non diabetics and difference is statistically significant (p<0.05).no significant correlation was found between disease duration and CCT. Also no significant correlation was found in CCT measurement among both sex(male/female) CONCLUSION: As this study showed increased mean CCT in diabetics. Hence this corneal heath parameter (CCT) should be kept in mind in such patients before taking decisions involving refractive surgeries and IOP measurement in those who have diabetes with glaucoma.
