AIM
To evaluate central macular thickness (CMT) following improved vision and stereoacuity in patients after strabismus correction.
Material methods
In this prospective cohort study we enrolled patients with strabismus. Anterior and posterior segment examination along with motor and senory evalution of strabismus was done in all cases .We subjected all eyes for Spectral Domain OCT and CMT was measured. Stereopsis and CMT was measured on post operative 1st month, 3rd month & 6th month. Data was retrieved and analyzed by spss 22.
Results
Out of 78, 28(36%)female 50(64%)male mean age 10.5±5 squint surgery done in 36(46.2%).post strabismus correction 3rd month vision and stereopsis significantly change.(p<0.05)But no significant change found in CMT following strabismus correction.(p>0.05)
Conclusion
Appropriate treatment of strabismus causes functional improvement in stereopsis but structural change in CMT was not noted.
