Aim:To find the association between AL with p-rnfl and macular thickness.
Methods : 300 patients(7-30years) were included in the cross-sectional study for 6 months (Jul’17toDec’17). 100 patients each under emmetropes, myopes and hyperopes. AL was calculated using IOL Master 500 and RNFL and macular thickness were calculated using Heidelberg SD-OCT.
Results: Mean age 20.37±7.51 years. Mean AL in emmetropes=23.42±0.55 mm, Mean RNFL in quadrants were I = 144±6.03,S = 141±6.23, N=102.32±3.18, T=98.37±4.51. Mean MT=289.63±9.54µ. Range of myopia = -1D to -10D, mean SE = -4.32±2.74D. Mean AL=25.34±0.73mm .Mean RNFL thickness: I=128.89±7.83, S=121.52±6.02, N=94.96±4.83, T=87.35±7.22, mean MT=261±31.79µ. Range of hyperopia = +1to+10 D. Mean SE = +3.7±2.14 D . Mean AL=21.67±0.57mm. Mean RNFL values : I=149.50±5.81, S=145.05±6.72, N=105.73±2.85, T=101.59±3.76. Mean MT = 294.67±7.72µ. (p<0.05) Conclusion: Eyes with greater axial length tend to have lower p-RNFL and macular thickness.
