To study clinical features & management of OSSN
A 42 year old male presented with a history of mass/growth in right eye since last 5-6 months which was progressively increasing in size. On ocular examination his vision was 6/6 with PR accurate in both eyes. On torchlight and slit lamp examination a thick fungating polypoidal mass with tufted vessel noted which was of approximately 0.5 X 0.3 X 0.2 cm of size located in temporal aspect over the conjunctiva of right eye covering the cornea. Routine blood examination were normal including HIV test. Excision biopsy was carried out and the sample was sent for histopathological examination.
Histopathology report showed neoplastic cells involving the entire epithelium but not the stroma which makes the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of conjunctiva.
Squamous cell carcinoma of conjunctiva being the most common OSSN should be treated promptly on presentation & should be differentiated from other benign lesions of conjunctiva.
