A 31 year old male, welder by occupation with diminished vision both eyes since 5 years(Visual acuity 6/18 with no improvement).Fundus examination showed a dull Foveal reflex. Spectral domain-Optical coherence tomography showed hyporeflective area in ellipsoid zone and photoreceptor outer segments suggestive of welders maculopathy.Retinal changes are caused by ultraviolet light at the blue end of the spectrum.Welding arc maculopathy is a preventable cause of ocular morbidity by implementation of adequate safety measures.
