PURPOSE-Sebaceous carcinoma is a rare,highly malignant and lethal tumour which occurs most commonly in upper eyelid due to presence of numerous meibomian glands.
METHODS-A 65year old male presented to ophthalmology OPD with mass in left upper lid since 2 years.Visual acquity was 20/40p and 20/125 In right and left eye respectively.Pathological analysis revealed the diagnosis of sebaceous cell carcinoma.MRI of brain and neck showed tumour abutting lacrimal gland and orbit with loss of fat planes.The patient has been informed about the dissemination.
RESULTS-wide local excision with upperlid reconstruction with tarsorraphy based forehead flap was done. Pathological analysis showed clear resection margins on all samples. The pathological staging was pT2MxNx.
CONCLUSION-Wide local excision for low grade and exentration for invasive tumours are surgical options.Sebaceous CARCINOMA can recur in 33% of cases.Despite a complete tumour resection,a long term followup is mandatory in patients.
