INTRODUCTION- Berger’s disease is a glomerulo-nephritis due to deposition of IgA antibodies in glomerulus and patients generally presents with hematuria. Often the patient also found to be having red eyes.
AIM- Diagnosis of cause of recurrent red eye in patients of Bergers’s disease.
METHODS- Cross-sectional study of 26 cases of Berger’s disease was done at ophthalmology referral centre from July2017-April 2018.
RESULTS- 9 cases among 26 subjects were found to be having red eye(34.6%), 8 of those were diagnosed with episcleritis(30.8%).
CONCLUSION- Thus, clinicians can be aware of the possible association of episcleritis in Berger’s disease and can initiate treatment. Routine urine examination can also be added to the profile of investigations in cases of recurrent episcleritis to rule out Berger’s disease.
