AIM: To analyze the agreement between wet/dry measurements from Welsch Allyn Suresight Pediatric Autorefractometer(WASPA) and cycloplegic retinoscopy/ post mydriatic test(PMT) in children ≤10 years. METHODS: Agreement between dry/wet WASPA measurements with cycloplegic retinoscopy and PMT was studied in 200 children screened, using Bland Altman analysis. RESULTS: Good agreement was found between dry WASPA and PMT with a mean difference of 1.17±6.3, -0.7±1.1, and 1.1±8.1 Diopters of sphere, cylinder and spherical equivalent, respectively. Good agreement was found between the Wet WASPA and cycloplegic refraction with a mean difference of 1.1±1.08, -1.4±1.9 and 0.45±0.7 Diopters for sphere, cylinder and spherical equivalent, respectively. CONCLUSION: Spectacle prescriptions based on WASPA are a reliable and cost effective alternative to time consuming cycloplegic retinoscopy/ PMT for screening children ≤10 years of age.
