To evaluate success rate and complications of Modified Implant DCR in patients with nasolacrimal duct (NLD) blockage.65 cases undergoing modified implant DCR over a 6 month period were monitored for patency of NLD and complications. Implant used was Modified Pawar Intracystic Implant made of silicone having collar with haptics of 3 mm.Mean age was 57.32±9.07 (31-74 years). Diagnoses included chronic dacryocystitis (CDC: 75.4%), CDC with mucocele (21.5%) and CDC with lacrimal fistula (3.1%). Overall success rate was 93.8%. Average duration of surgery was 28.23 ± 3.47 minutes. Two cases (3.1%) developed postoperative wound infection at 3 weeks from exogenous source. Implant was expulsed in 2 cases (3%) due to forceful sneezing and large size of ostium, one case developed chronic dacryocystitis with lacrimal fistula after 2 months.Modified Implant DCR is a simple, less time consuming, less complicated alternative surgical procedure for NLD blockage.
