Title: Outcomes of Harada Ito procedure for acquired torsional diplopia

Aim: To evaluate the outcomes of Harada Ito procedure in patients with acquired superior oblique paresis.

Method: The medical records of 5 patients who were diagnosed with acquired superior oblique paresis and underwent Harada Ito procedure in an academic institution were reviewed. The demographic data, duration and cause of palsy were noted. The pre operative prism cover test(9 gaze) and degree of torsion – subjective and objective – were noted and compared with post operative outcome.Harada Ito was combined with horizontal or oblique muscle surgery in few cases depending upon the case.

Result: Post operatively all the patients had good functional outcome with resolution of torsional diplopia.

Conclusion: Harada-Ito surgery successfully treated torsional diplopia in patients with superior oblique paresis.
