Aim – Every patient wants perfect vision post cataract surgery but every patient does not want to get OCT of Macula or Specular Microscopy investigations done. Method – An analysis of 324 patients were done in a single center study from October 2017 to March 2018. All patients were in the Middle Income Group ( MIG ) and a counsellor was assigned to all patients to understand the importance of advanced investigations for better prediction of visual outcome post routine cataract surgery. Results – 208 patients ( 65% ) were apprehensive of shelling out extra charges to get costly investigations done even though they understood the importance. 78 patients ( 25 % ) got the tests done reluctantly. Only 38 patients ( 15 % ) readily got investigations done as requested. 36 patients later got convinced with reduced charges and counselling by operating surgeon himself. Conclusion – Reduced charges and couselling by operating surgeon convinced more patients to get high end investigations done.
