Introduction
Haemangiopericytoma is a rare mesenchymal tumor thought to originate from pericyte . Orbit is a rare location for this particular tumor and corresponds to 0.8 – 3% of all primary orbital tumors and 1% of all lacrimal sac tumors .
Case Report :
A 24 years old male patient presented to ophthalmology OPD for a recurrent swelling on the inner side of the left eye associated with clear fluid discharge from a point on the superior aspect of the swelling . He also complaints of watering . Ocular examination of the left eye revealed ptosis with lateral dystopia and posterior subcapsular cataract . CT revealed isointense homogenous mass from the ethmoidal sinus eroding the lamina papyracea with hypervascular channels . He underwent left anterior orbitotomy and histopathology of the swelling revealed haemangiopericytoma .
Conclusion
Early complete removal of Haemangiopericytoma may restore patient’s cosmetic appearance and visual acuity .
