Aim: To determine the success rates of air descemetopexy with/ without suture in different grades of descemet’s membrane detachment (DMD) following cataract surgery.
Methods: 51 consecutive patients, with post-cataract surgery DMD, who underwent air descemetopexy with/ without suture (based on the severity) between January 2015 and August 2016, were prospectively evaluated. The visual outcomes and success rates following surgery were analysed. A p value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Small incision cataract surgery accounted for 68.6% of our cases. Descemetopexy was done within 37 days of surgery in all cases (Mean = 9 days). 92.2% had descemet’s reattachment after the first attempt. Irrespective of the timing of surgery, descemetopexy was associated with improvement of visual acuity which was statistically significant (p <0.001). Conclusion: There is a statistically significant improvement of vision post descemetopexy via air tamponade with/ without suture.
