Methods: A prospective study assessing 120 eyes implanted with Vivinex and Acrysof IQ IOL after an uneventful cataract surgery from January 2017 to October 2017. On follow up visits over 1, 3, 6 and 9 months: anterior capsular rim thickness nasally and temporally was assessed on ASOCT, anterior capsular phimosis through slit lamp photograph by Adobe reader and lens opacity map on ITracey superiorly, inferiorly, temporally and nasally.
Results: A larger anterior capsular rim thickness nasally (p=0) and temporally (p=0) was seen in Acrysof IQ compared to Vivinex and was statiscally significant on 9 months. Anterior capsular phimosis was not appreciated in any of the lens. Lens opacity map showed more opacity with Acrysof IQ which was stastically significant superiorly (p=0.008), temporally (p=0.0002), nasally (p=0) at 9 months .
Conclusion: Acrysof IQ showed more anterior capsular opacification as compared to Vivinex IOL
