Purpose :To evaluate and compare the lens thickness and its relation to type of cataract and axial length by IOL MASTER 700 in pediatric cataracts.MethodsThe study was conducted in 51 eyes (31 patients) undergoing pediatric cataract surgery with IOL implantation. The Standard deviation of repeatability of each measurement was taken in consideration (SD 9um,10um,19um,0.07D ofAxial LengthL,AnteriorChamberDepth,LensThicknes,Spherical Equivalent of keratometric readings respectively)ResultsMean (SD) of the agewas 8.16 (3.1) years( range 3 – 14 years).Marked p values shows there is a significant difference between, lamellar vs PSCC (mean difference = 0.564375 P<0.001) & PSCC vs Total (mean difference 0.78 p<0.001).Conclusion:Therewas no correlation between axial length and lens thickness In pediatric cataractous eyeswhile lamellar cataracts had significantly lower lens thickness compared to posterior subcapsular cataract.
