INTRODUCTION :Dacryocystitis is an inflammation of the lacrimal sac, secondary to obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct at the junction of the lacrimal sac.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: This was a prospective study and the patients were divided into 2 groups Group ‘A’ underwent external DCR without intubation and Group ‘B’ underwent external DCR with silicon tube intubation.
RESULT & CONCLUSION: F:M affected were 11 .Left side>right side.M/C affected were in 5 th decade.Housewive> others. Females cooking food on chulha are affected more than those cooking on LPG gas.Muslims were affected more commonly than patient from other religions.Most common microorganism isolated from culture of the discharge was gram negative spp followed by gram positive spp.Lower middle socioeconomic status group was most commonly affected.Patients with SI tube intubation had a higher success rate than patients without silicon tube intubation but with a statistically non significant increase in complication rates.
