Purpose: To evaluate thickness of sclera in patients of scleritis after treatment, using AS-OCT.
Methods: Cross – sectional prospective study of 34 patients with scleritis. Using AS-OCT scleral thickness was measured in 4 quadrants of both eye, 1st visit & followed up during treatment
Results: 34 patients with a mean age of 48 years presented with scleritis. Mean scleral thickness(mm) of affected right eye before treatment on an average was 0.997 – sup, 1.062 – inf, 0.985 – nasal & 0.934- temporal quadrants. In left eye before treatment measurements were 0.968- sup, 1.062, inf,0.916- nasal & 0.852 – temporal quadrants. Mean values of the affected right eye after treatment on an average was 0.9775, 1.266, 0.950 & 0.95 respectively in 4 quadrants. In left eye after treatment measurements on an average were 1.073, 1.073,1.073 & 0.854 respectively in 4 quadrants. Thus, shows scleral thinning.
Conclusion: AS-OCT may be an useful imaging tool for following up patients with scleritis.
