Aim-Reporting two Cases of acute, angle closure secondary to uveal effusions induced by Methylcobalamine
Methods-Case reports.
Results-Bilateral shallow AC and high IOP seen in a patient within 3 days of injection of 2 doses of Methylcobalamine for backache .Gonioscopy showed appositional angle closure in both eyes despite patent Peripheral iridotomy. The next patient took methylcobalamine tablets for 20 days for joint pains and had appositional angle closure on gonioscopy in phakic eye.UBM in both cases revealed bilateral ciliary body effusion and anterior rotation. Discontinuing methylcobalamine ,use of aqueous suppressants, cycloplegics along with systemic steroids, reversed angle closure and resolved ciliary body effusion.
Conclusions-To the best of our knowledge, methylcobalmine induced acute angle closure is quite rare. The two noticed cases following use of methylcobalmaine point towards the potential idiosyncratic reaction of the drug in causing drug induced angle closure.
