Fibrous dysplasia is a benign tumor of the bone in which fibrous tissue develops instead of normal bone leading to weakening and a mass effect. It occurs as a result of somatic missense mutation of GNAS-1 gene.A 21 year old male presented with facial asymmetry,unilateral proptosis,visual deterioration and headache.X-Ray examination showed ground glass appearance of sclerotic bone.MRI shows low to Isointense T1T2 weighted images.Histopathology showed classic appearance of dense fibrous stroma surrounding irregular shaped bony trabeculae.Lab tests showed elevated ALP levels.The patient was diagnosed craniofacial fibrous dysplasia by clinical and radiological features.Patient needs to be managed conservatively by debulking dysplastic bone.fibrous dysplasia is not only a disease confined to adolescent but also adults and even middle age group.Patient may not require surgery but requires follow up for late progression.This poster aims to outline the management of fibrous dysplasia.
