Aim: To compare the response of macular edema to intra vitreal avastin (IVA) caused secondary to Branch Retinal Vein Occlusions(BRVO) depending upon the central macular thickness(CMT)

Materials and Methods: It is a hospital based retrospective analytical study. Patients diagnosed with BRVO(Branch retinal Vein Occlusion) with macular edema were divided into two groups depending upon their CMT. After one dose of IVA the response i.e the CMT was compared between two groups after 1 month. The study was conducted at Retina clinic from August 2016 to January 2018.

Results: A total of 50 patients were recruited for the study. Mean decrease of CMT after IVA was 150.56µ in Group-I (300µ-520µ) and mean decrease of CMT in Group – II(520µ-1000µ) was 344.28µ.The paired t test showed that the p value was <0.0001showing that difference is extremely significant. Conclusion: Higher the value of CMT , increased response was observed after one injection of IVA in BRVO patients with macular edema
