Aim: To correlate the severity of diabetic retinopathy with the control of HBA1C, hypertension & its effect on visual acuity. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 521 patients with diabetes mellitus type 1 & type 2. They underwent visual acuity test, slit lamp & dilated fundus examination. Fundus findings were graded according to ETDRS classification. Results: Among 521 patients, 222 had diabetic retinopathy & 299 did not have it. In the former, 102 had good control whereas in the latter, 220 had good control. Out of 521 patients, 171 had hypertension of which 119 had Diabetic Retinopathy. Visual acuity also was poor among diabetic retinopathy patients.
