Aim: To study causation and management of fungal corneal ulcer and role of keratoplasty in non-healing ulcer. Materials and methods : Prospective interventional study of 2 years duration (Oct 2015-Sep 2017) including 240 eyes of 240 patients with fungal corneal ulcer. Diagnosis was achieved by microbiological work up of corneal scraping. Treatment was given and follow up done after 1,2 and 6 weeks. Results : 52.5% cases belong to 41-60 years of age group, M:F = 2.6:1. Time of presentation 6-15 days (60%). Central corneal ulcer is 55% cases. Fusarium was most common cause. Natamycin drop given in 55% cases. Debridement in 90% cases. In non-healing cases- voriconazole in 2.5% cases, Tab. fluconazole in 32.5% cases , and conjunctival flap in 2.5% cases, amniotic membrane graft in 3% cases. Keratoplasty was done in 4 cases (1.7%). VA was better after 6 weeks in 2 cases after keratoplasty. Conclusion : Timely intervention of fungal corneal ulcer is essential for better visual prognosis.
