Introduction: Role of prognostic factors in outcomes of therapeutic keratoplasty (TK)in infective keratitis.
Methods: Records of TK from May2014- May2017 were reviewed.Data included patients details, microbiology of ulcers, duration and extent of ulcers, details of donor tissue(fresh tissue is death-utilisation interval <48hrs irrespective of tissue gradation).Outcomes were evaluated in terms of eradication of infection, anatomical integrity, visual acuity, graft clarity. Results:127eyes were enrolled in the study. 33showed fungal, 31showed bacterial and 11showed mixed etiology. 36eyes presented with limbal involvement.Average follow up period was 12months.In bacterial keratitis cure rate of infection was91%, anatomical success was 87%. Fresh donor tissue has a graft clarity of23%.19%gained a visual acuity of6/60. Patients with limbal involement has faliure rate of 89%. Conclusion- TK has better outcome in utilisation of fresh tissue, bacterial ulcers, limbus sparing keratitis.
