Abstract
Aim : To compare the magnitude of changes in corneal curvature, corneal thickness following LASIK between the subjects with simple myopia and myopic astigmatism.
Material and methods: 50 eyes of subjects who underwent LASIK were included . Corneal curvature and corneal thickness were measured by using pentacam at the end of 1 month. Total sample was divided into 2 groups .The magnitude of changes in these parameters with each dioptre of refractive correction was assessed and compared.
Results: With refractive correction of each dioptre, there is 0.96D decrease in anterior corneal curvature in simple myopic group and in astigmatism group there is decrease in anterior corneal curvature of 0.66D. The change in corneal thickness is 14.19um in simple myopics and 12.81um in subjects with astigmatism.
Conclusion: The magnitude of decrease in anterior corneal curvature and corneal thickness was less in subjects with myopic astigmatism group compared to simple myopic group.
