The aim of this paper is to provide awareness among patients,health care professionals about recent developments and future challenges of dry eye diseases .Dry eye is a common disease in the ophthalmological clinic ,which is related to the dysfunction of the tear film either by decreased tear production or increased evaporation .The tear film is composed of lipid , aqueous and mucin layer .The lipid of outmost layer derived from meibomian glands decrease evaporation and stabilize tear film .The thickness , quality and distribution of lipid layer are impaired in many dry eye patients.TEAR FILM SCAN is most advance non invasive , documentable & reproduceble tool which helps in assessing quantity and Quality of tear film by digital accurate measurement of Tear Meniscus Height {Non Invasive Break Up Time NIBUT ],Tear film particles movement by inbuilt video, lipid layer analysis , Photographs taken by scan of meibomian glands & ducts establish cause of tear film dysfunction .
