Aim: To present a novel cost effective method for testing stereopsis on ANY screen using Red-Green anaglyphs. Methods: The test was designed using a pair of red-green contour bars on a neutral gray random dot background. The stereopsis was graded by changing the amount of horizontal disparity. The test was validated using Randot chart for near stereopsis and CP690 projector chart (Nidek) for distance stereopsis. Results: 8 normal subjects, mean age 26.9 years and 8 intermittent exotropes (mean age 13 years) were included. Stereopsis was perceived for the near and distance by all the subjects on all the charts. Mean distance stereopsis on the New chart was 3.6″ in normal and 3″ in intermittent exotropes in comparison with 2.5″ in normal and 3.25″ on CP690 projector chart. The correlation for distance stereopsis was excellent (r= 0.9). Conclusion: Novel bichromatic stereopsis chart is a cost effective method to assess stereopsis in normal subjects and in intermittent exotropia.
